Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of Africa’s most ancient and biologically diverse rainforests, located in southwestern Uganda along the edge of the Albertine Rift. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the forest is world-famous for its endangered mountain gorillas, hosting nearly half of the global population.

The forest spans rugged hills, deep valleys, and dense vegetation, creating a mystical landscape that feels untouched by time. Bwindi is estimated to be over 25,000 years old, making it one of the oldest rainforests on the continent. Beyond gorilla trekking, the forest supports over 120 mammal species, 350 bird species (including many Albertine Rift endemics), 200 butterfly species, and more than 1,000 plant species.
